The Board of Directors is the governing body for the Los Alamos Family Council.
According the National Council of Nonprofits a Board has three primary responsibilities:
- Duty of Care: take care of the nonprofit by ensuring prudent use of all assets (including facilities), people, and good will
- Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the nonprofit’s activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission; recognize and disclose conflicts of interest; make decisions that are in the best interest of the nonprofit corporation not in the best interest of the individual board member or any other individual or for-profit entity
- Duty of Obedience: ensure that the nonprofit obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows it own bylaws; and that the nonprofit adheres to its stated corporate purposes/mission
Members of the Board of Directors
Austin Evans, Board President
Austin joined the Board as a member in August 2019. He was later elected as Vice President in December 2020 when a vacancy occurred.
Austin was elected as Board President at the annual meeting in February 2021 and started as Board President on April 1, 2021 and serves in this position for a two-year term.
David Todd Harmon, Board Vice President
David Todd joined the Board as a member in December 2020. He was elected as Vice President at the annual meeting in February 2021 and started serving as Board Vice President on April 1, 2021 and serves in this position for a two-year term.
Mary Erwin, Treasurer
Mary joined the Board as a member in September 2019.
Mary was elected as Board Treasurer in February 2020 to fill a mid-term vacancy. She was reelected at the annual meeting in February 2021.
Ed Vigil, Secretary
Ed joined the Board as a member in August 2020.
Ed was elected as the Secretary in December 2020 to fill a vacancy. He was reelected at the annual meeting in February 2021.
George Chandler, Member
George was elected as a member of the Board in April 2021.
Joe Granville, Member
Joe joined the Board as a member in September 2017. During his tenure, Joe has served as Treasurer.
Anne Kain, Member
Anne joined the Board as a member in March 2017. During her tenure, Anne served as Board President for several years.
Matthew Waldschmidt, Member
Matthew joined the Board in December 2016.
